The organisers do an amazing job with the Lanes Summer Fayre. St Benedicts street transforms into a buzzing and bustling festival. We were right next to some great face painters, a few stalls down you could get home-made soaps, cakes, jewellery, handbags, vintage dresses, and anything you could wish for. We brought our ever popular chicken kebabs and Boerewores with chakalaka (more about this dish soon!).
After waterproofing everything we were ready to serve. Some rain wasn’t going to stop us, and it wasn’t stopping our customers either! Soon we had a long queue down to road and we got down to work. Our chef Munya was turning those kebabs and boerwores on the BBQ with a speed unknown to man, I am sure he broke some record! Collin and Barry did an amazing job of bringing it all together into lovely wraps and pittas. And me? Well I was the lucky one chatting to the people in the queue about our work and taking their orders. We were even lucky to have our friend Charlie come and help out. And boy did we need it. By three o’clock we had sold out!
It was busy day and we raised a good money for the project. Norwich, Lanes fest, what can we say? It was emotional!
